What Is Robotic Surgery?

In robotic surgery, the procedure is performed by a surgeon. The surgeon operates from a surgical console in the operating room and controls the robotic arms located at the patient-side console next to the patient. The surgeon's hand movements are transmitted simultaneously and with high precision to the robotic arms.

In this method, the robot carries out the surgeon's commands; it is not the robot, but the surgeon, who performs the operation. The robotic system enhances the surgeon's vision with high-definition, three-dimensional imaging and provides exceptional precision and access.

What Is the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System?

The Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, a global leader in robotic surgical systems, has been used successfully for more than 25 years in many specialties, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, thoracic surgery, ENT, and pediatric surgery. To date, more than 12 million surgeries worldwide have been performed using this system.

The Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System consists of three main components:

• Patient Cart: Consists of four robotic arms connected to the patient's body. One arm carries the endoscope (camera), while the others hold the surgical instruments directed by the surgeon.
• Surgeon Console: An ergonomic console where the surgeon sits and controls all instruments. It includes a 3D imaging system and highly precise control mechanisms.
• Vision Tower: The central processing unit of the surgical system, containing the endoscopic and imaging equipment.
